A Sense of Pride: The Hustle of Drag @ NSU Art Museum

Join the NSU Art Museum and drag phenomenon Queef Latina for “A Sense of Pride” with talks on sexuality, the inception of drag and the LGBTQ+ community. This month’s special guest, Queef Latina is a drag performer and sewing instructor based in Miami, Florida. She owns Queef Enterprises, a community sewing studio in downtown Miami where she holds monthly workshops and private classes.

This special film, premiered locally at the Miami film festival 35 years ago, depicts the lives and documents the systemic violation of human rights and the persecution of homosexuals in Castro’s Cuba. Improper Conduct went on to win major awards internationally for its eye-opening exposition.

Complete with panel discussions on the AIDS crisis and artists, performances, the Gay men chorus,  and ritualistic healing practice by artist Roberto Navarrete that responds to intolerance towards LGBTQ+ community, the museum has something to offer for everyone.

Also screening will be Paolo Soleri: Citizen of the Planet, a 50-minute film about the architect, dreamer, and philosopher, whose utopian ideology was to build mega-structured cities a hundred times the size of the Empire State Building.
