ART CIRCUITS CALENDAR

Join ICA for their first Friday social event in which visitors can stay at the museum until 10pm, and enjoy the district district air. The museum will be displaying public art installations by Sol LeWitt, Yona Friedman, Urs Fischer, and Buckminster Fuller. This month will also feature a free performance series produced by 19-time Grammy Award-Winning Producer Emilio Estefan in collaboration with the Miami Symphony Orchestra.

Calling all One East Society members of the NSU Art Museum for the museum’s newest first Societal Social event, in which visitors can network with other professionals and appreciators of the arts while enjoying a pop-up art installation, a live performance by The Pulse Brand, and a DJ set.

Calling all Fort Lauderdale residents! Today, join the NSU Art Museum for free, as the last Sunday of every month has open admission with ID and drivers license. In addition to free Museum admission, Fort Lauderdale residents will receive a 10% discount on catalogs published by NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale and sold in the Museum Store.

Form/Function/Power by Jessie Laino commences LnS third anniversary. Opening Reception, Saturday, September 7, 6 – 9 pm. Jessie Laino, a Miami native offering a salient perspective that weaves the purposefulness of construction with the precision of honed artistic technique. In her deconstruction and reconstruction of quotidian objects, Laino infuses form with allegory, creating an intensified relationship for the receptive viewer. On view until November 2.

September 7 – October 7: Rewilding by Annie Blazejack & Geddes Levenson. Opening Reception at the Coconut Grove Art Festival Gallery is on Saturday, September 7, 6 – 9 pm. Geddes Levenson and Annie Blazejack grew up together in Miami, FL., and both graduated from the New World School of the Arts, Miami’s premier magnet school for the arts. They have been showing work together for over a decade. 

Locust Projects presents Antenna an interactive installation and activation by artist collaborative, FeCuOp. Founded in Miami in 1997, FeCuOp includes Jason Ferguson, Christian Curiel, Brandon Opalka and recent new member, Victor Villafañe. This is FeCuOp’s first major collaborative project in Miami since 2003. Opening Reception on September 14, 7 – 9 pm at Miami Design Distry newley renovated space.

Join Locust Projects in a progressive evening of reminiscing, talks, and collaborative performances celebrating the closing of FeCuOp: Antenna.. 6-7 pm: Casual happy hour with beer, wine and bites. 7 pm: Conversation with all of the members of FeCuOp moderated by Lorie Mertes, executive director of Locust Projects, with special guest Robert Chambers on the evolution FeCuOp and placing within the context of other artist collectives in Miami that were formed in the late 1990s and early 2000s. 7:30 Performance by dancer and choreographer Ivonne Batanero, 7:50 om special musical guest appearance by mezzo-soprano, Amanda Crider. First Saturday of the month at LnS Gallery (2610 SW 28th Lane, Coconut Grove) opening reception for The Artful Book 2019: an installation of artist-made books by South Florida artists: John William Bailly, Mario Bencomo, Margarita Cano, Pablo Cano, Martin Casuso, Rosemarie Chiarlone with poet Susan Weiner,and Lydia Rubio, among others. 

Tonight is Sterling Ruby Opening Night at 7 pm: ICA Miami presents the first comprehensive museum survey for renowned American/Dutch artist Sterling Ruby. Spanning more than two decades of the artist’s career, the exhibition features an array of works created in various mediums, from his iconic ceramics and paintings to lesser-known drawings and installations.

Enjoy wine and bites in a recently renovated architect’s home from Berlin now nestled in tropical Coconut Grove: The highlight of the event is the premiere of a new collection of cloth napkins, hand printed by Barnyard Kids, ages 6 to 12 using hand-carved wood blocks from India. Trenton Doyle Hancock Transforms Locust Projects into Toy Land. Public Reception to meet the artists on Sunday, November 17, 1 – 3 pm. November 17, 2019 – February 8, 2020: I Made a Mound City in Miami Dade County.

Curated by Ariel Jimenez, Hybridizations | Contemporary Strategies is Juan Carlos Maldonado Collection’s 2019 art season’s exhibit. Opening Day is Tuesday, December 3rd, from 10 am to 6 pm. Hybridizations’ is a veritable “melting pot” of works by twenty artists from around the world including Venezuelan artists Alexander Apostol, Sigfredo Chacón, Jaime Gili, Magdalena González and Pepe López; Brazilian artists Marcelo Cidade, Vik Muniz, Andre Komatsu and Jose Macarapana; Cuban artists Alexander Arrechea, Alexis Leyva Machado ‘KCHO’, Carlos Garaicoa, Los Carpinteros and Glenda León, among others.
