Join the Gables Museum for monthly talks on the art world, this months special being a group of Cuban-American women who paved the way for photographers in their country with their progressive view on art. Join Aldelde Delgado for a discussion on her role as a modernizing force in Cuban society.
Join the Coral Gables Arts Cinema for a pre-Independence Day film extravaganza directed by Denys Arcand “The Fall of the American Empire”. This film is witty and critical in its depiction of modern capitalistic society, and takes on the powerful themes of the predominance of money and morals in outrageous cinematic sequence. This film is in French with English subtitles and is rated R.

Enjoy a night of fun with the Coral Gables Museum as they celebrate their monthly “Gallery Night Live” celebration in Miami. The museum will be premiering some new exhibitions such as Paintings by Andres Cabrera at the Frank Lynn Gallery; America Weaves, at the Fewell Gallery; and The Art of Compassion in Gallery 109 and the Creating the Dream permanent exhibition.Enjoy these new exhibitions while also enjoying live music, a bar, and light bites. This event is free and open to the public.

Join MOAD for a FREE screening of Paths to Utopias, a 2011 film that documents 10 utopian experiments, from the direct-action Climate Camp set up illegally beside Heathrow airport to a hamlet squatted by French art punks, from occupied self-managed Serbian factories to a free-love commune in an ex Stasi base. This series aims to understand present urban and societal changes and what they will look like in the future.

Join NSU Museum for their Second Sunday film festival event. This month’s movie is Heading Home, a film about national baseball team as it competes for the first time in the World Baseball Classic. This classic underdog story tells the story of passion, pride, victory, and defeat. Before the screening, join the museum for a tour of William J. Glackens: From Pencil to Paint.

Join the Coral Gables Museum for an inside look into the gems that make up a historic neighborhood. Discuss the Mediterranean Revival style that elegantly dominates the architecture while visiting some of the pivotal points throughout the history of the Gables. See the Colonnade Hotel, the Ford dealership, outdoor theater and riding club while learning about how these small locations built the landscape of modern Miami.

Join the Coral Gables Museum for a relaxing morning of biking through Miami’s beautiful summer scenery of exotic plants and beautiful gardens at Montgomery Botanical on Old Cutler Road. The tour takes visitors through the world famous botanical garden on their bikes and will tell the stories behind the wide array of lush palms, cycads and beautiful plants, brought as seeds from around the world to their new home in Miami.

Join the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami for their monthly film screening Moving Images. This month’s movie is “Of Men and Gods”, a powerful story showing the lives of openly gay men in Haiti, a society in which homosexuality is looked down upon. The film depicts the Vodou religion within Haiti and the solace that these men found in it as they explored their potential and sexuality in a spiritual way.

Join the Coral Gables Museum, Leica Store Miami and their Women in Focus Festival for a panel discussion on their newest discussion “The Art of Compassion”, in which curators and and participants will engage in conversation on how photography empowers social change, how the images were made, and how the participants were touched by the experience.

Starting the day off with a self-guided audio exhibition tour, the day will proceed with a bus ride to the waterways where a stunning amount of natural beauty, wildlife, architecture and hidden gems of the city can be seen and admired.

Join the Coral Gables Museum and Miami Police Department Officer Kelly Denham for a discussion on gun violence and safety in our community as well as drills on police safety in active shooter situations. The last Wednesday of every month, the museum gives lectures on various topics, so stay posted for information on our community with the museum.

Join the Lowe Art Museum (UM Campus) and ARTtuesdays/MIAMI at Books & Books (Coral Gables) for an engaging conversation between renowned Cuban American artist Carlos Estévez and noted art historian and curator Dr. Carol Damian, member of the ARTtuesdays ‘Miami team. The pair will discuss Estévez’s latest project, Cities of the Mind, which Damian guest curated and which remains on view at the Lowe through May 3, 2020.
