Gary Nader proudly presents Ricardo Cisneros: Tierra Sublime (Namibia: Sublime Land), a series of 30 spectacular photographs from Mr. Cisneros travels to Namibia, Southern Africa. All proceeds from the sales of these photographs will be donated to Global Empowerment Mission to help on the recovery of NW Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian. The exhibition will be on view from October 18 through November 30.

Teresita Fernandez: Elemental, on view from October 18, 2019 – February 9, 2020 at PAMM. Artist Talk and Catalogue Signing on the night of October 17, 7 pm.In celebration of the opening, artist Teresita Fernández will discuss her special exhibition Elemental and how her work has led her to this mid-career retrospective. Cole assembles and transforms ordinary domestic and used objects such as irons, ironing boards, and high-heeled shoes into imaginative and powerful works of art and installations. Cole’s art speaks to the social, political, and cultural perspectives on the African American experience.  Cole’s work can be found in the permanent collections of the MOMA, the Walker Art Center, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, as well as the National Gallery of Art, among many other museums

Miami MoCCAD, Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora, and Lowe Art Museum co-sponsor an Art Basel Week kickoff with a complimentary reception and a conversation with Afro-Cuban artist Juan Roberto Diago and curator and founding director, Harvard Afro-Latin American Research Institute Alejandro de la Fuente, moderated by Erica Molah James, University of Miami Caribbean Art History Professor. Sunday, December 1, from 5 pm. Seating begins at the Storer Auditorium, program starts at 6 pm. Diago: The Pasts of this Afro­ Cuban Present is the first retrospective of Juan Roberto Diago (b.1971). This exhibition, presented by University of Miami Lowe Art Museum and the Harvard University Hutchins Center for African & African American Research in collaboration with Miami MoCAAD, offers over two decades of uninterrupted work and traces Diago’s singular efforts to construct new pasts–the pasts required to explain the racial tensions of contemporary Cuba.

The Museum of Graffiti, a new contemporary art museum and the first institution of its kind to present the history of the global graffiti art movement, will open its doors to the public on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at its new home in Wynwood at 299 NW 25th Street. In The Total Absence / Presence of Color, curated by Adriana Herrera for Sammer Gallery new space-office in Midtown will be closing on Saturday, December 7, with a free visit and breakfast from 10 am – noon. The title of this exhibition responds to the predominance of black and white in the assembled works. The works gathered here encompass a period of 90 years: from an untitled 1929 drawing by Joaquín Torres García, to the acrylic on metal Táctil Virtual by Rafael Martinez from 2019 (3250 NE 1st Ave. Unit 303, Midtown).

Breakfast in the Park with the lecture by Sculptor Petrah Coyne on Sunday, December 8: 9:30 am to noon. Free and Open to the Public. An official Art Basel Miami Beach event, the contemporary sculptor and photographer Petah Coyne will be the featured speaker this year. Known for her elaborately detailed assemblages that hang from ceilings and erupt from the floor, Coyne uses molten wax, silk flowers, sumptuous fabric, and pristine taxidermy to create works that evoke gothic narratives and the excess of the Rococo.

Bubbles and Brunch from 10:30 am to noon (visit three amazing exhibits ) and then at 12:30 pm.  Lecture with renowned sculptor Ursula von Rydinngsvard at the Donna Shalala Student Activity Center. Best known for creating large-scale, often monumental sculptures from cedar beams, von Rydingsvard is represented in the permanent collections of over 30 museums.
