Starved. Fighting Child Hunger @ The Artisan Lounge

Starved. Directed by Giselle Delgado Buraye, this collective exhibition poses the question of how are we all affected by physical, emotional and spiritual hunger? In an effort to bring awareness and raise funds for the Feed My Starving Children South Florida Community MegaPack happening on Jan 27-31 at the Fair and Expo Center, 30 artists have come together to support this cause as their way to help feed starving children around the world. All the work will be auctioned this Friday, January 15th at The Artisan Lounge.

Phillips Brings Latin American Masterworks to Miami Design District @ Palm Court Space

Phillips is pleased to announce the exhibition of more than 30 works of art in the Miami Design District, from April 19-24. Highlights from the upcoming Latin America sale will be on view, presenting the rare opportunity to see works by Matta, Carmen Herrera, Roberto Obregón, Olga de Amaral, and Jesús Rafael Soto, among other masters. On April 21, Phillips will also host the book launch of Matta: On the Edge of a Dream by Thomas Monahan, the first international monograph or publication dedicated exclusively to the artist. Auction on May 24 at Phillips ( 450 Park Ave., NY).

September 6 – November 4: Tracing the Red Thread, by distinguished South Florida-based artist Mira Lehr. The multimedia, a museum-wide installation will reflect Lehr’s eco-feminist philosophy, the concept of mankind working with nature rather than dominating over it. Lehr uses the classical myth of Ariadne to explore the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness of the endangered aquatic ecosystem of the South Florida coast.

The most comprehensive show by Gelfman to date, the exhibition will showcase paintings the artist has produced over the last two decades, as well as examples of early works from the late 1960s and early 70s—the majority of which have never been seen publicly before.
