Join PAMM for the Tout-Monde Festival, in which Caribbean artists are given a platform to express their creativity in multidisciplinary approaches, including film work, installation, and performance. Visitors will be able to view a selection Caribbean short films curated by Jonathan Ali of Third Horizon Film Festival followed by a Q&A session with film directors, as well as a powerful dance and installation work performed by the women of Miami. Yué#Sorority is a project done by female local Caribbean artists who aim to call attention to feminine issues for Women’s month, as well as climate change and a social movement, so make sure not to miss this amazing performance at PAMM.

Where The Oceans Meet Opening Panel & Chaos Opera Performance @ MOAD - Museum of Art & Design MDC

Where the Oceans Meet, an exhibition of modern and contemporary art that resonates with the pioneering thought of two Caribbean writers, Lydia Cabrera and Édouard Glissant. An international group of forty artists and collectives participate in the exhibition curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Asad Raza, Gabriela Rangel, and Rina Carvajal. The panel discussion with two artists in the exhibition–Zins-Browne and Daniel Boyd—and two of its curators—Asad Raza and Rina Carvajal—will be held at 3 p.m., followed by Zins-Browne’s The Chaos Opera at 4 p.m.

ICA Miami and Guadalupe Maravilla present Los Purifiers, a new performance by the New York- and Richmond-based artist that aims to create a new visual memory for the entangled genealogy of border-crossing stories. As part of the performance, Maravilla will initiate a sound activation intended to cleanse phobias and blockages resulting from an accelerating political climate.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is thrilled to present an expanded event as part of its Jazz at MOCA series on Friday, Sept. 27 including a performance by singer Leslie Cartaya, a panel discussion and O, Miami. The conversation will be moderated by Antonio Martinez, former district director of Dade County Public Schools. Speakers will comprise of Hispanic artists of various mediums including writer N.J. Perez, the author of “Heart of a Cuban”, artist Edison Penafiel, who is an exhibiting artist of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Exhibition, and singer Leslie Cartaya. Guests may also walkthrough MOCA’s exhibition “South Florida Cultural Consortium,” with free admission.

Alternative Facts, an interactive public performance by Paul Ramírez Jonas that explores the concept that truth is a social contract. Over the course of two days in two different parts of the city, the artist will engage individual members of the public in a series of actions that call into question commonly understood ideas about facts, authority, exchange, value, and trust. Friday, October 18, from 11:00AM–2:00 PM at Kyriakides Plaza in MDC’s Wolfson Campus, and on Sunday, October 20, from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM at HARTVEST PROJECT at Pinecrest Gardens in Pinecrest. The events are free and open to the public.
