The public is invited to attend the closing reception for centennial exhibit “This Land Is Your Land: A Second Century for America’s National Parks” on Friday, January 6th from 6 pm to 10 pm, with free admission, cash bar and live performance of “Songs and Stories of Our National Parks” by Florida folk musician Grant Livingston and park ranger Gary Bremen. The duo will perform together from 7 pm to 8 pm. Grant Livingston will perform a second solo set of his original songs from 8:30 pm to 9:30pm. This special performance is presented by the Coral Gables Museum in partnership with the Dade Heritage Trust, South Florida National Park Trust and National Park Service.

They are also places where there are connections between people on many levels. This exhibit takes you inside several Cuban American barbershops in the Miami area and several Cuban barbershops in Havana to allow you to see for yourself how much goes on besides people getting haircuts. Regardless of the ever‑shifting governmental politics and policies of the two countries, the connections between people are strong and relations are not cut!

Castles in the Sky, an exhibition on Fantasy Architecture in Contemporary Art. Jarring the laws of actual architecture, the imagined palace functions as a very real foundation, buttress, and pillar for Castles in the Sky. From Claes Oldenburg’s proposal to replace the Washington Monument with gigantic scissors to Laurie Simmons’ photograph of candy castles atop a cake weathering a blizzard of confectionary “snow,” the works here delight and intrigue.
