CU-1 Gallery and Mr. Marc Schmidt in association with Mr. Ndaba Mandela and Mr. Florian Haffa present a solo exhibition of recent works by internationally acclaimed artist, Stephan Szcznesy. One of the key figures in twenty first-century art, Szczesny co-founded “Neue Wilde” (Nouveaux Fauves), recognized as the most important art movement in Europe since World War II.“Szczesny uses a kaleidoscopic visual language and seeks a synthesis between Picasso and Matisse, between the fanned-out multiple perspectives of the one and the clear surfaces of the other.†Klaus Honnef, art critic.
A painter first and foremost, Szczesny has long experimented with painting on photography. Widely known for his exuberant and sensual style celebrating the beauty of life, the solo exhibition comprises a curated selection of chefs-d’oeuvres among these works, through which the artist explores the rich cultures of Miami and his adopted hometown St. Tropez. The exhibition also features a selection of Szczesny’s well-known shadow sculptures.
Stephan Szczesny’s work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in the United States including New York, Chicago, New Orleans and Miami. His friends and collectors include Pierce Brosnan, Tommy Hilfiger, Stephen Schwarzman, Patricia and Phillip Frost, and Steve Wynn. Mr. Stephan Szczesny will present one of his shadow sculptures to Mr. Ndaba Mandela during the reception. The sculpture will be auctioned at a later date to benefit Africa Rising.
