Marilyn Valiente is a Cuban-American artist who holds a Ph.D. in Pastoral Psychology, and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. She continues to work as a psychotherapist in private practice. Her current body of work titled "The Judgment" is a series of painting that reflect the pain and struggles that can characterize the human experience. In the background the viewer can detect a hint of the spiritual dimension.
Of this current work she states "My paintings are a dance between the inner world of images and symbols and the outer world of beauty and perception.  Each of these paintings started with splashes of colors on the canvas. I then allow the painting to rest with me for a while. From there it is all an intuitive and emotional response to color, shapes and pattern as the images and themes appear. It is my hope that the viewer will subconsciously and emotionally engage long enough to make a soul connection and perceive the patterns and images of human struggles. These are the symbols and themes that form the tapestry of our lives. The title of this current exhibit is “The Judgment Series.†It is born out of my own struggle to face the mysteries of life, and to face the fears I meet as I make my own path in the world." Marilyn Valiente
