Ruben Alpizar. My Ark
May 30 – June 27, 2014

This is the first solo show in Miami of Cuban artist Ruben Alpizar, who was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1965. In 1984, he graduated at Provincial School of Plastic Arts “José Joaquín Tejada”, Santiago de Cuba, and in 1989 obtained the Painting Specialty degree at Superior Institute of Art, La Habana.

The essence of his work proposes a marked interest for the recovering of the past: to question history as well as myth, examine and fuse them with irony, with our personal fantasy and our present collective projections, combining the Renaissance codes with Surrealism and 20th century vanguard movements.
