The exhibition entitled Ceilings by Cuban Photographer Luis Castañeda represents the collaborative effort between Art Bastion and the charitable organization TECHO. Together Art Bastion and TECHO wish to raise funds needed to support the numerous programs of the US based foundation, which in turn aids the foundation’s efforts in fighting poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Luis Castañeda is a renowned landscape photographer who has received numerous awards for his work, including Master of the Leica in 1993 and Golden Eye of Russia in 2006, as well as the Ortiz-Echagüe award in tourism photography. His photography has also been published in multiple magazines such as Leica Fotografie Int. (Germany), Leica Magazine (Italia), Fotografía Popular (China), Panasonic NEWS (Switzerland), Foto & Video (Russia) and Photoworld (China).
Hasselblad, Leica and Minox utilize Luis Castañeda’s works for promotional material. The artist has also exhibited his work in many exhibitions throughout Europe and the Americas.
Over many years of traveling, Luis Castañeda devoted time to capturing and photographing the exquisite interiors of ceilings and domes from around the world. Many of these images are emblematic of their cultural origins, such as the interior of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain or the cupola of the Parliament Building in Budapest, Hungary. The ceilings exhibited represent some 20 examples of this magnificent and exotic collection of photographs, representing a bridge and visual comparison between styles and cultures of the East and West. These kaleidoscope-like images printed on canvas recall something precious, perhaps similar to the intricate and elegant design of the « Carré Hermés ».
TECHO is a 501 (c) 3 youth-led non-profit organization that seeks to overturn poverty in disadvantaged areas of Latin America by linking volunteers with local community leaders to transform slums into empowered communities. TECHO operates in 19 Latin American countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Through community development programs, TECHO aims to create a poverty-free world.
The efforts and programs of TECHO are intended to impact and to better the lives of impoverished communities. Art Bastion and the photographer Luis Castañeda have decided that a portion made from the sales of the exhibited works will be donated to support TECHO’s cause and to help achieve the foundation’s goals.

Art Bastion is an international art agency and gallery that endeavors to discover and represent artists from around the world, and to introduce their artwork to a wider audience. Art Bastion was initially founded as an agency to discover talented artists, to jump-start their careers and to create a globalized network via the Internet that would facilitate communication among artists, collectors, and the everyday art aficionado.
Art Bastion expanded its presence in different realms of the art world, such as art consulting for buyers/sellers, managing collections, and organizing “pop-up” exhibitions. Though this idea continues to be a major goal of Art Bastion, the agency has diversified its role by settling in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami. By creating a multi-sensory experience through a variety of disciplines of art, Art Bastion exceeds its traditional role as a gallery. The special events promoted by Art Bastion are a way to mix a dense cultural community with a thriving Arts scene in the heart of Wynwood Arts District.
