Central American Modernism: Overlooked and Undervalued. Presentation by Suzanne Snider, Curator, Author & Art Historian. Ms. Snider is the author of upcoming book “Central American Modernism” to be published by Caps and Bells. Most of the Modernist artists of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama traveled to Europe, Mexico, the US and South America to experience Modernism: Armando Morales, Carlos Merida, Francisco Zuniga, Benjamin Cañas among others. Suzanne Snider curator of the Ford Art Gallery has been working with Central American artists for 15 years, meeting with many of them in their studios. The artists include: Alejandro Aróstegui, Rodolfo Abularache, Cesar Izquierdo, Elmar Rojas, Armando Morales, Hugo Palma-Ibarra, Marcia Salas, and Benjamin Cañas (through his widow, Dora Cañas).
