Join several experts to document, celebrate, and honor the incredible legacy of the Miami Black Arts Workshop (MBAW), a Black artistic collective active in West Coconut Grove, from 1969-1985. In conjunction with the museum’s exhibition, Place and Purpose: Art Transformation in Coconut Grove, this conversation brings four active MBAW artists, Kabuya Pamela Bowens-Saffo, Dinizulu Gene Tinnie, and Robert McKnight, to share their stories of artmaking, research, resilience, and community engagement. FIU professor M. Alexandra Cornelius, Ph.D., will moderate the conversation.
