DiVine Connection: The Word Through Art by artist: Roland Woods, Jr. He began my studies as an artist at the University of Miami where he earned a BFA degree. Woods continued to study art at Syracuse University where he earned an MFA degree. Roland Woods has been instrumental in serving as president of a Community-Based Art Workshop which later earned the named, The Miami Black Arts Workshop. The workshop and its group members used the visual and performing arts to enhance the aesthetics, social status and economic growth of the community. Woods's artwork is greatly influenced by the artist of the reformation and counter-reformation; the Cubist and Mexican Mural Movements.
