Ortiz’s pottery, fashion and film are steeped in artistic Pueblo tradition and reflect past and present-day Native American social issues. Lowe Connects program on January 14 in collaboration with the newly formed Native American and Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Miami will present Virgil Ortiz (Cochiti Pueblo), an Native American artist and futurist, in conversation with Monica Buckle (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma), art consultant and curator specializing in Native American arts and culture.
