Join the NSU Art Museum and Barbara Buhler Lynes, Ph.D., Sunny Kaufman Senior Curator for a lecture on the museum’s Cobra collection. The Cobra collection is a series of work similar to that of abstract expressionists of the 20th century, however, it differs in that neither was inspired by the other. These dynamic, colorful, and expressive works were made by international artists who joined together in 1948, naming their group Cobra after their home cities of Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam, and the museum has one of the biggest collections of their work in the US.

Meet Jamali at his space in Brickell City Centre on Friday, April 12th (noon – 9 pm) and Saturday, April 13th same hours (noon to 9pm). Enjoy his new works, his Spring Exhibition: Art with “Sole” Jamali is one of the most collected living artists in the world today. His greatest historic contribution to contemporary art is his innovative technique, Fresco Tempera.

Castles in the Sky, an exhibition on Fantasy Architecture in Contemporary Art. Jarring the laws of actual architecture, the imagined palace functions as a very real foundation, buttress, and pillar for Castles in the Sky. From Claes Oldenburg’s proposal to replace the Washington Monument with gigantic scissors to Laurie Simmons’ photograph of candy castles atop a cake weathering a blizzard of confectionary “snow,” the works here delight and intrigue.
