Fernando Botero: Boterosutra, Homage To Fernando Botero
With his unique artistic style, Botero created a series depicting the millennial Hindu book Kama Sutra. The exhibition comprises fourteen erotic paintings, drawings, and sculptures portraying couples in various intimate positions. These unique pieces are executed in oil on canvas, graphite, watercolor, marble, and bronze, and continue Botero’s iconic imagery. The artist’s exceptional skill is masterfully highlighted in the execution of the artworks, solidifying Botero’s status as the world’s most recognized artist of all time. Each piece is a testament to Botero’s ability to combine artistic traditions with his unique vision, resulting in a stunning collection of artworks.
Idilio Tropical By Rachel Valdes
This solo show by contemporary artist Rachel Valdes presents her latest body of work, a series entitled “Idilio Tropical,” featuring twenty paintings oil on canvas. Creating art through pictures helps her achieve a meditative state. The painting process allows her to document her actions on canvas and use colors from different environments to develop unrelated scenarios and landscapes, usually resulting in abstract compositions. Gestural painting is not only a practice that reflects Valdes’s perspective of the world, emotions, and experiences but also a spiritual and mental practice that enables the viewer to collaborate in each artwork.
Valdes has expressed that “In “Idilio Tropical,” I aimed to connect with my roots and the mestizo character that defines it. Each canvas represents a narrative flash, an echo of the landscapes that serve as the backdrop for stories and legends. I’m fascinated by the connection between the spiritual and the earthly, merging the known and unknown. My work aims to create balance and contemplation, establishing a link between humans and nature.”
