Light for the Amazon – Durban Segnini Gallery

Durban Segnini Gallery presents Light for the Amazon, an exhibition curated by Omar López-Chahoud, on view from September 11 to October 24, 2025. The show features modern and contemporary works by leading Latin American masters alongside diverse contemporary voices, ranging from geometric abstraction to figuration and referencing pre-Hispanic visual languages.
The exhibition doubles as a benefit: proceeds will support Light for the Amazon, a nonprofit dedicated to environmental education in the Peruvian Amazon. Funds will sustain Guardians of the Amazon, a year-long program in Santa María de Ojeal focused on ecology, sustainability, and indigenous medicinal knowledge. The project room highlights works by the organization’s founder, Matteo Callegari, including two limited-edition prints created specifically to fund the cause.
Participating artists include Harry Abend, Carmelo Arden Quin, Mario Abreu, José Luis Cuevas, Sol LeWitt, Roberto Matta, Julio Le Parc, Mercedes Pardo, Richard Prince, Mira Schendel, Manolo Vellojin, among others.
The Benefit Committee brings together a wide network of cultural leaders, collectors, and curators such as Jill Deupi, Teresa Enriquez, Dennis Scholl, Mindy Solomon, Sophia Ballesteros, Amanda Keeley, Jillian Mayer, and Gilbert Vicario.
