Join the Frost Museum and Florida International University for a one week long summer camp extravaganza in which kids get to join the museum for artistic crafts, activities on color and observation, games based on the galleries, and more. Visitors will at the end of the week make a storybook based on the week at the museum. Parents can buy a single day pass or a whole week pass for children, either is sure to guarantee a fun, educational and artistic experience for the kids while on break from school.

This lecture tells about the work of Caycedo, which explores human rights, social and environmental justice, and cultural biodiversity within community, and the processes of performances, drawings, photographs and videos to communicate her contemporary ideas.

Join the Frost Museum and Lisa Haque for a discussion on her artmaking process and the way that she transforms paper into art with complexity and concepts. Haque makes paper by hand and turns them into artist books and other works, as shown in the museums current exhibition Spheres of Meaning. This lecture will be given at Books and Books for free.

This month’s movie is “Of Men and Gods”, a powerful story showing the lives of openly gay men in Haiti, a society in which homosexuality is looked down upon. The film depicts the Vodou religion within Haiti and the solace that these men found in it as they explored their potential and sexuality in a spiritual way.

Michael Gray solo exhibition Onshore at Pinecrest Gardens (1100 S. Red Road, Pinecrest) opens today Sunday, August 4, 11 am – 1 pm. Free. Gray is an avid fisherman and South Florida resident, extremely concerned artist with the treatment, preservation and the monitoring of our water systems. Onshore is a series of works composed of paintings, linocut prints and monotype prints. These works depict the impact of the Karenia Brevis algae blooms, known best as red tide, and the overall state of Floridian water systems.
