Francesco Clemente at NSU Museum Ft. Lauderdale @ NSU Art Museum Ft. Lauderdale
Oct 22 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Francesco Clemente will be present at the Preview of his show Dormiveglia (October 23 – April 23, 2017). Dormiveglia features nine large-scale oil paintings conceived in 1998 and other works by Francesco Clemente, a leading figure of the Neo-Expressionist movement. Standing, elongated, and statuesque forms of muted, pale colors suggest nebulous half-conscious states between wakefulness and sleep–near dream-like moments of reality and existence, a subject Clemente has explored throughout his career.

October 20, 2018 – May 19, 2019: One of America’s leading modern artists, painter William Glackens (1870-1938) had a keen interest in the work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir that has long been recognized However, Glackens’ specific debt to the art of this important French modernist has never been fully explored. William J. Glackens and Pierre-Auguste Renoir: Affinities and Distinctions fills this void by bringing together exceptional works by each artist that illuminate Renoir’s influence on Glackens’ artistic development and also shed light on the history of taste in American collecting from the late-19th to the mid-20th century.
