From March 6 to April 23 at the Bailey Contemporary Arts Center ( 41 NE 1st St., Pompano Beach): A provocative art exhibition inspired by the poetry of men incarcerated at the Everglades Correctional Institution who participated in the Free on the Inside Program, which brings spoken word and cultural arts into the prison system. A collection of poems was curated and provided to some of South Florida’s up-and-coming visual artists, who interpreted the emotional messages, transforming the words into works of art in various mediums including fiber art sculptures, paintings, photographic collage and augmented reality.
