Set in 2050, Miami’s museum-park, the Deering Estate, has been converted into a residential complex of tenants who have been displaced from different parts of the world due to climate change. When rooms become available, they decide to host their first open house, while re-opening partially as an art space after recent repairs from a hurricane. Prelude to 2100 features a theatrical component written by Juan C. Sánchez and directed by Jennifer de Castroverde, interactive installations by artists Laurencia Strauss, Kerry Phillips, and the Department of Reflection, plus dance works by Olujimi Dance and Sandra Portal-Andreu. Other artworks featured are by AMLgMATD, Cara Despain, Alicia Eggert, Gustavo Matamoros, Jits Microfarm, The Queer Theory Library, Carrie Sieh, Fereshteh Toosi, and Kim Yantis & Lucinda Linderman.
