Richard Merrick, brother of Coral Gables founder and developer, George Merrick, studied at New York's famous Art Students League under the tutelage of some of America's greatest artists - George Luks, John Sloan, Robert Henri and etcher Joseph Pennell. Luks recognized Merrick's talent and called him "Kid Rembrandt with the nut brown eyes. This special collection of paintings, etchings and drawings to be featured at the May 30th event has not been seen before and was released by the family to be sold to benefit the Museum. A live auction, hosted by Coral Gables Chamber President, Mark Trowbridge will begin at 7:00pm with several artworks also available via silent auction.
